Shaina and Isaac’s engagement session at the Flat Irons Vista Trail was nothing short of magical, especially with the warm hues of fall blanketing the landscape. The Flatirons, with their towering rock formations and golden autumn leaves, provided the perfect backdrop for this adventurous couple. Their love story is one of those that makes you believe in fate—meeting at the end of 2018 while traveling, despite living in different cities. Shaina was based in Colorado, and Isaac was in New York City, but the connection was instant. They spent a few years navigating long-distance before finally settling down together in Boulder in 2021. Their favorite memory from that time? Adopting their dog, Bagel, who has been a big part of their journey ever since.
From the very beginning of their session, it was clear that Shaina and Isaac’s bond runs deep. They both have a passion for the outdoors, spending as much time as possible backpacking and exploring the mountains. It’s in those wild spaces that they feel most like themselves, so it made perfect sense for them to choose the iconic Flatirons as the location to capture their engagement photos. The stunning backdrop of rocky peaks and vast open meadows was not just a setting, but a reflection of who they are as a couple.
Shaina is the epitome of laid-back cool. With her relaxed, down-to-earth nature, she has a calm presence that radiates warmth. Isaac, on the other hand, is a burst of energy. He’s goofy, always cracking jokes, and his playful spirit kept Shaina laughing throughout the shoot. Their dynamic made the session feel light, cozy, and incredibly fun. It was impossible not to smile watching them interact—Isaac would do something silly, like pretending to trip or making exaggerated faces, and Shaina’s laughter would follow immediately. That laughter echoed across the foothills, creating a sense of joy that was impossible to miss.
As we wandered through the trails, Shaina and Isaac shared stories about their travels, the time they spent long-distance, and their favorite moments since moving to Boulder. One of the most touching stories was about adopting Bagel, their adorable dog, who has become such an important part of their lives. They even had Bagel come to the shoot and we had him sign their marriage license, which was such a fun idea. Only in Colorado can your dog marry you!
The fall colors added a cozy, inviting atmosphere to the session. With the crisp autumn air and the golden light filtering through the trees, there was a sense of intimacy and connection between Shaina and Isaac that was easy to capture. They walked hand-in-hand along the trails, laughed under the changing leaves, and shared quiet moments looking out at the expansive view of the Flatirons.
What stood out most about this session was how natural and comfortable they were together. Shaina’s cool-girl vibes paired perfectly with Isaac’s silly, energetic personality. They bring out the best in each other, and that’s what made their session feel so authentic. There was no need for forced poses or stiff smiles—everything about them just flowed, creating beautiful, candid moments that reflected the genuine love they share.
By the end of the shoot, as the sun set behind the Flatirons, it was clear that this session wasn’t just about capturing beautiful photos. It was about celebrating who Shaina and Isaac are, both as individuals and as a couple. Their love for the mountains, their adventurous spirits, and the joy they find in each other’s company made this engagement session truly unforgettable.
