Colorado is my favorite wedding backdrop, no matter the season. The clear blue skies, wildflowers in alpine meadows, the golden hues of Aspen trees at golden hour, and the snow-capped Rocky Mountains all make for stunning photos!
If you’re planning your wedding and deciding when to book your photoshoot, here are tips I recommend for each season as a Colorado wedding photographer.
● Golden Hour: Schedule your session during golden hour, just before sunset. The soft, warm light will give your photos a romantic glow.
● Mountain Views: Choose locations with breathtaking mountain views, like Rocky Mountain National Park or Shrine Pass.
● Floral Accents: Walk along paths with wildflowers to add a cute little touch of color and whimsy to your photos.
● Foliage: Plan your shoot during peak fall foliage (usually mid-September to early October) to capture the brilliant golds and reds of the Aspen trees.
● Cozy Layers: Wear your coziest layers to add texture to your outfits (and stay warm during the shoot!).
● Rustic Settings: Lean into the Rocky Mountain feel with rustic locations like barns or fields (like this one in the Boulder Flatirons!)
● Snowy Scenes: Embrace the snow! Snow-covered trees and mountains provide an enchanting backdrop.
● Warm Outfits: Stay warm with fur wraps, elegant coats, and gloves. They add a little sophistication and keep you cozy.
● Lean into the Season: Choose locations with blooming flowers and greenery, like Colorado’s many gardens and parks.
● Light Fabrics: Wear light, airy fabrics. Flowing dresses and light linen look beautiful against the vibrant spring landscapes.
● Morning Light: Consider a morning photoshoot to take advantage of the soft, diffused light and the exciting, fresh feel of a spring day.
Like nature, our love glows, flows, and grows through seasons. Let me capture yours in its true essence as your Colorado wedding photographer.
